“House based ministry became so common that throughout the book of Acts, every mention of a local church or of a church meeting, whether for worship or fellowship, is a reference to a church meeting in a home. Men and women, ablaze with the Spirit of God, began to spread the gospel message from house-to-house (Acts 20:20). House churches played an essential role in the rapid growth and ultimate triumph of Christianity, and it would be safe to say that the first three centuries belonged to the house church movement.”

The Florida Keys presents unique challenges to church planting, organizational viability, and establishing and maintaining long-term relationships. These challenges are caused by a higher than average cost of living, geographical isolation, limited jobs, and a higher than average cost for commercial property.
Prior to moving to the Keys in 2015, the founder and CEO of the Bible College of the Florida Keys worked for a large missions organization that targeted unreached people groups. This type of ministry requires relying on the house church model for spreading the gospel in difficult areas. These experiences of working at the missions organization and subsequent move to the Florida Keys led to the founding of the BCFK and a dissertation entitled “Organic Leadership Training: A Training and Assessment for Program for Potential House Church Leaders.” You can read it here:
